What's the speed of the machine?
Currently it can handle up to 300 cards/hour, it depends by the sorting rules.
What's its capacity?
Each position can hold up to 250 card, total machine capacity is up to 3000 cards, it depends by the sorting rule applied, since some of them (e.g. sort by set or title) require more space than others. For specific games, for example One Piece, the capacity is lowered to 190 to handle the increased thickness of the cards.
I can see cards are bending, will it damage them?
Bending is required to be sure to detach any other card from the bottom and this movement won't damage them: for Magic: The Gathering cards, you can almost push the two ends in contact and no damage will be sustained. This is actually a test to check if a card is original or not ("Bend Test").
From which sites prices are fetched?
The following e-commerces are currently supported, you can configure the source inside machine settings:
-
CardMarket
-
TCG Player
-
Card Kingdom (MTG only)
-
Card Trader
How can I issue commands? Do I have to know how to program?
Absolutely no! There is a touchscreen where you can configure the machine and send the commands
Can it detect foil cards?
Yes! Inside Magic Sorter settings, you can specify if all cards should be considered Normal, Foil or try to detect the printing. Please note that the foil detection is still an algorithm, so it can't be 100% correct. If you want to be absolutely sure about it, you should manually set the printing type to Normal or Foil.
Can it recognize the language?
Yes! Please note that we perform text recognition and then try to infer the language from the text. This means if there's very little text or "made up" words on the card, detection could fail.
Can it detect card condition?
No. This feature is not available and it will never be by choice. There are actions where a robot is the best tool and others where a human is the right one; grading cards is one of those.
Is this a lease? Do I own the machine? If so, can I resell it if I no longer need it?
This is not a lease, when you purchase a Magic Sorter, you are going to own it. Then you can do whatever you want with it: use it, leave it aside or even resell it to another customer. In this case, you'll have to inform us about the change of ownership, so we can update our records with the new customer. The new owner will need to have a valid subscription, moreover a transfer fee of 100€ is applied to cover administrative expensive.
After that, the new owner is free to start using the machine.
What about customs and import fees? Do I have to pay anything? How much?
If you're outside the European Community, most likely there will be import fees. Those are taxes that are requested by your government, not by us. DHL will contact you to collect the amount due, but please note that it's simply acting as a middleman: your government is the real beneficiary.
It's not possible to get a cost estimate for the import duties, because customs agents will evaluate each shipment individually.
This is especially true for US customers: lately US customs agents are extremely slack in reading invoices and shipment papers. On the bright side, the documents we attach to the shipment are 100% correct, so if you receive an incorrect amount for import fees, you can open a claim with DHL and get a refund.
